We are very pleased to announce our 2011 opening date is this coming Saturday.

Carsington Sports & Leisure Ltd is due to kick off its second fly fishing season on Saturday 19th March. After such a successful first season we can?t wait to get our second season underway. We?re busy prepping the boats, the lodge and getting a full complement of 20 boats, all with outboard engines ready for opening day.

You will find familiar faces on the staff team waiting to help you with your enquiries and that all important fishing knowledge. Fish have already been stocked at several points around the water giving you all a chance to catch! We are pleased to have another trout farm supplying us with fish this year in addition to the two excellent suppliers used throughout 2010.
Our permit prices have increased a little due to higher vat and fish costs however the boat prices have stayed the same as last season.

Our stocking levels are due to remain the same as last season with a little more emphasis on pre-season stocking and more regular weekly deliveries during the later part of the season. As always there will be a good mix of both brown and rainbow trout stocked into the water, with the current high water levels we can spread our stocking around the water to help the fish spread out.

Philip White will be joining the team again this year to run beginner and improver casting sessions plus the introduction of a day course giving a little more background information into the sport and its equipment.

Fly fishing at its best! Carsington Water is a stunning trout fishery situated in the heart of the stunning Derbyshire countryside. Its natural beauty, tranquil atmosphere, crystal clear waters and stunning fish combine to make Carsington Water addictive to anglers.
Its gin clear waters are stocked with fish up to 5lb and fish are stocked weekly throughout the season.

Carsington water offers some of the best boat fishing in Derbyshire and fishing from a boat is the best way to explore the water and hunt out those fantastic trout. There are 20 boats available for hire all supplied with engines, oars and an anchor. Boats can go out from 8.30am and return at sunset.

It is recommended that boats should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made on 01629 540478.

A 15% discount is available for bookings of 5 or more boats, please ask for details when making your booking.

* Evening boats cannot be booked. If you wish to reserve an evening boat, you must pay full boat price on arrival.

Casting Lessons

Introduction to fishing with a fly

An opportunity to learn the basics of fly fishing, the course covers basic casting, knots and entomolgy. All equipment and a qualified instructor will be provided for the course.

Meet at the fishery lodge at 10am for morning sessions and 2pm for afternoon sessions. Each session will last approx 2 hours.

Booking is essential as places are limited, call the watersports centre to make a booking on 01629 540478. The cost is £25 per person which must be paid at the time of booking.
